Salford City<\/a> have made their sixth January signing. The Ammies have signed striker James Wilson on a permanent deal from Aberdeen. He returns to English football after a short spell in Scotland.<\/p>\n

The Deal<\/h3>\n

Salford announced via their website<\/a> they had signed the striker. Wilson arrives for an undisclosed fee signing an 18-month deal at the Peninsula Stadium.<\/p>\n

Wilson\u2019s arrival continues Salford\u2019s busy January window. He becomes their sixth acquisition as they look to secure a top-half finish in their debut Football League season.<\/p>\n

Wilson is known to the Salford owners having begun his career at Manchester United<\/a>. He made a handful of appearances for United but injuries have blighted his career. \u00a0Loan spells at clubs including Derby County<\/a> and Sheffield United<\/a> haven\u2019t worked out for the talented forward.<\/p>\n

He joined Aberdeen initially on loan in 2018 before joining permanently last summer. His loan season saw him score four goals in 24 games. However, he has struggled for game time and goals this season. He failed to score for Aberdeen this season and made just 11 league appearances. A career blighted by injury for a player who was the next big thing at Manchester United.<\/p>\n

However, he will drop down to League Two and now hope to get some game time and score goals. He joins a club that knows about his ability with Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes all involved with Salford.<\/p>\n

Wilson is looking to rebuild his career and a move to Salford certainly suits all parties. Salford have lacked attacking options; the owners know his ability and the player himself can return to his roots. It’s a move that could be fantastic if Graham Alexander can unlock his potential and prove why Manchester United once rated him so highly.<\/p>\n

He could make his debut against Port Vale tomorrow.<\/p>\n
