League Two club Crewe Alexandra<\/a> have completed the loan signing of Stephen Walker from Middlesbrough<\/a>. The Railwaymen beat several other clubs to the signature of the England<\/a> youth international. Walker will stay with Crewe until the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Goals Expected From the Youngster<\/h3>\n

The highly-rated 19-year-old striker has played ten times for Boro this season and recently started in the victory over Stoke City<\/a>. Walker signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract at the Riverside last year.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Cheshire Live<\/a>, Crewe manager David Artell said he is expecting goals from the versatile forward: “I’ve told him he’s coming here to score plenty of goals, that’s what he has to do.\u00a0He is a good player and he gives us a different option, he can play across all front three positions and that’s what you want, all the answers up your sleeve.\u00a0He’s got good pedigree, he’s a good kid, a proper tough kid who works his socks off, and he will get the opportunity to impress.”<\/p>\n

Boro boss Jonathan Woodgate<\/a> is happy that his young striker is going to Crewe. He told the club website<\/a>: \u201cThis is a good opportunity for Stephen to go out, play some games, and gain more experience at a competitive level. We see Crewe as a good fit for Stephen at this stage. He has a big future ahead of him, but knows he needs to work hard, and this is a good move for him at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

History<\/h3>\n

Walker, who was born in the town of Middlesbrough, signed his first professional contract with his hometown club in the summer of 2016. During January last year, Walker spent time on loan at MK Dons<\/a>. He made seven appearances but failed to score. A year older and a year more experienced, Walker, Boro and Crewe will be hoping he can score his first league goal in the near future.<\/p>\n
