The Valiants have signed defender Mitchell Clark on loan from <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonfootball.com\/clubs\/leicester-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Leicester City<\/a> for the rest of the season. Clark returns for a second spell with Vale.<\/p>\n<h2>Port Vale Sign Defender Mitchell Clark on Loan<\/h2>\n<h3>The Deal<\/h3>\n<p>Port Vale announced<a href=\"https:\/\/www.port-vale.co.uk\/news\/2020\/january\/mitch-clark\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> via their website<\/a> they had signed the defender. Clark arrives on loan from Leicester for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Clark is Vale\u2019s first January signing as the Valiants continue to push for a play-off place.<\/p>\n<p>The young full-back began his career with <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonfootball.com\/clubs\/aston-villa-club-news-analysis-fixtures\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aston Villa<\/a> but was released in the summer and eventually joined Leicester. Askey was disappointed not to a seal permanent move for Clark in the summer.<\/p>\n<p>Clark has been an ever-present in Leicester\u2019s U23s squad but has decided to return to Vale on a temporary basis. He made 45 appearances for Port Vale last season as they secured their safety in League Two.<\/p>\n<p>Clark will hope to make his debut this weekend when Port Vale face Salford City.<\/p>\n<h3>What Was Said<\/h3>\n<p>Speaking to the Port Vale website about his new signing, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.port-vale.co.uk\/news\/2020\/january\/mitch-clark\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John Askey said<\/a>: &#8220;I&#8217;m really pleased to get him in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt gives competition in an area that we haven&#8217;t had much competition in but having said that James Gibbons has done really well for us.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When he&#8217;s available we know with Mitch what we&#8217;re getting.
