Nottingham Forest<\/a> have confirmed the departure of defender Chema Rodriguez. The centre back only arrived in the summer but returns to Spain for an undisclosed fee. He is joining La Liga high flyers Getafe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Chema Rodriguez Departs Nottingham Forest<\/h2>\n

The Deal<\/h3>\n

Nottingham Forest announced via their website<\/a> they had let the defender leave. Rodriguez completes a permanent transfer to Getafe signing a deal until 2023.<\/p>\n

The defender only joined Forest from Levante in the summer, but a lack of game time has warranted a return to Spain. The defender joins La Liga high flyers Getafe who are battling to secure a Champions League place.<\/p>\n

The defender has struggled to make an impact at Forest since arriving the summer. The competition for places has meant Rodriguez has decided to exit the City ground. Lamouchi has preferred Joe Worrall and Michael Dawson at the back while Matty Cash has been an ever-present at right-back.<\/p>\n

A brief six-month spell that hasn\u2019t worked out for either party, but Lamouchi will be happy with what he has already got as he continues to trim the Forest squad.<\/p>\n

Rodriguez will join a Getafe side competing in La Liga and the Europa League. He will face stiff competition but will fill the void left by Leandro Cabrera. Cabrera\u2019s release clause was activated by Espanyol, so Jose Bordalas has been seeking a new defender.<\/p>\n

He will hope to make his debut this weekend when Getafe face Athletic Bilbao. A key game between two sides battling for European football.<\/p>\n

Chema Rodriguez and Nottingham Forest Didn\u2019t Quite Work Out<\/h3>\n

The defender made the move to England hoping to establish himself in the Forest team. However, a late move in the summer to the club and the difficulties of ousting others has meant his time in England is over.<\/p>\n

Both Rodriguez and Forest move on as the East Midlands side continue to charge towards the automatic promotion places.<\/p>\n
