League Two strugglers Stevenage<\/a> have signed striker David Parkhouse on loan from Sheffield United<\/a> for the rest of the season. Parkhouse arrives as Stevenage\u2019s fifth January signing.<\/p>\n

Stevenage announced via their website<\/a> they had signed the striker. Parkhouse arrives on loan for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n

Parkhouse is the third striker to join Stevenage this window as Graham Westley desperately tries to get Stevenage firing. He follows Simeon Jackson and Jake Cassidy into the Lamex Stadium. Stevenage are severely short on goals scoring just 20 goals in 29 league games.<\/p>\n

The striker has recently spent time on loan with Derry City in Ireland. He scored 19 goals in 39 appearances for the Irish side. This will be his first loan spell in the English football league.<\/p>\n

He arrives aiming to secure Stevenage\u2019s survival in League Two. Stevenage are rock bottom of League Two and desperately need to start winning games.<\/p>\n

Parkhouse could make his debut this evening when Stevenage travel to Grimsby Town. However, if he hasn\u2019t received clearance to play this evening, then his debut could be against Leyton Orient on Saturday<\/p>\n

What Was Said<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the Stevenage website about his move, Parkhouse said<\/a>: \u201cI’m glad to be here. I’m really excited. I can’t wait to get going. It’s just a great club to come to and I can’t wait to come get things started.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it (the move) initially came about because I had a really good loan period back in Derry in the League of Ireland,” he explained. “That ended in October\/November time and I got a couple of weeks off.<\/p>\n

“I came back in December to Sheffield, trained a bit, got my fitness back and I obviously got a few games under my belt and I was just weighing up options between clubs. I then found out about Stevenage and knew the manager was interested in me. There was interest from a few other places, but it just felt right to come here and I’m glad to be here now.”<\/p>\n

Manager Graham Westley added:<\/a> \u201cDavid comes to us of the back of a very successful loan in a very tough league out in Ireland.<\/p>\n

“He is exactly the type of striker that thrives at Stevenage – honest, hardworking, resilient, able to score and team first. I am thrilled to add his strengths to the mix. We have lacked goals and we are determined that our Transfer Window work will change that.\u201d<\/p>\n
