League One promotion hunters Sunderland<\/a> have signed midfielder Josh Scowen. The midfielder arrives from Queens Park Rangers<\/a> for an undisclosed fee and becomes Sunderland\u2019s third January signing.<\/p>\n

The Deal<\/h3>\n

Sunderland announced via their website they had signed the midfielder. Scowen arrives for an undisclosed fee and becomes Phil Parkinson\u2019s third signing.<\/p>\n

Scowen is a vastly experienced midfielder at League One level. He was part of the Barnsley side which won promotion to the Championship in 2016. He arrives ready to add another promotion to his CV.<\/p>\n

The midfielder began his career at Wycombe Wanderers making over 100 appearances before moving to Barnsley.<\/p>\n

He joined QPR in 2017 and has gone on to make 103 appearances for the R\u2019s including 18 this season. Sunderland will feel it\u2019s a real coup they have the midfielder on board.<\/p>\n

Scowen could make his Sunderland debut against Tranmere Rovers on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n

What Was Said<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the Sunderland website about his move, Scowen said<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m over the moon to be here and I can\u2019t wait to get started.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to show the gaffer what I can do and get in the team so that I can help the club keep winning games. I feel fit and I\u2019m raring to go.”<\/p>\n

Manager Phil Parkinson added: \u201cI\u2019m delighted to welcome Josh to the club. We identified him early in the window and it took a while to get the deal over the line, as we were competing with several other clubs for his signature.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been patient, and the chairman and the board have worked hard to finalise a deal this afternoon.<\/p>\n

\u201cJosh has a promotion from League One on his cv and a lot of Championship experience. He can play in a number of different roles and he will bring real quality to the squad, especially in that midfield area.\u201d<\/p>\n
