Leeds United have confirmed that they have signed Ian Poveda<\/a> from Manchester City<\/a> on a four-and-a-half-year deal.<\/p>\n

Young Winger<\/h3>\n

The 19-year-old joins the club having made just one appearance for previous club Manchester City.<\/p>\n

He has been a mainstay in City’s U23 side, making six appearances for them during the first half of this season.<\/p>\n

Despite his lack of experience, Poveda spent time in Barcelona’<\/a>s academy as a youngster, as well as Chelsea<\/a> and Arsenal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Poveda Ready for Leeds Challenge<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the Leeds United website<\/a> on arrival, Poveda said: “I\u2019m very, very pleased, I know that Leeds United are a big club.<\/p>\n

“I know Leeds won the league the year before it turned into the Premier League and I believe they should be back there.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m an attacking player, I can play right wing, left wing or in attacking midfield, I like to dribble with the ball, link up the play, score goals, create chances, assist and I work hard for the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very excited to work under Bielsa, I know he improves players and that\u2019s what I\u2019m looking to do under his guidance.<\/p>\n

\u201cI met a couple of my teammates when I was going through to have my medical, I\u2019m very happy and they made me feel very welcome.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m here to help the team as much as possible, to get promoted and restore this great club back to where it belongs.”<\/p>\n

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping that his new signing can help their promotion push, as they seek their long-awaited return to the Premier League.<\/p>\n

However, they need to return to winning ways. They have lost their last two games in the Championship, and are now just three points ahead of third-placed Fulham, who have 49 points.<\/p>\n
