Salford City<\/a> have made their fifth January signing. The Ammies have signed defender George Tanner on loan from Manchester United<\/a> for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n

Salford Sign George Tanner on Loan from Manchester United<\/h2>\n

Salford announced via their website<\/a> they had signed the defender. Tanner arrives on loan for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n

The young defender spent the first half of the season at Morecambe; he featured 29 times for the football league\u2019s bottom club. Tanner\u2019s arrival continues Salford\u2019s January revamp.<\/p>\n

Tanner becomes Salford\u2019s fifth signing of the window following Ashley Hunter, Tom Elliott, Bruno Andrade and Michael O\u2019Connor into the Peninsula Stadium.<\/p>\n

Graham Alexander has been looking at defenders with Salford quite leaky defensively. Tanner arrives hoping to make a positive impact and impress parent club Manchester United.<\/p>\n

He could make his debut this weekend in Salford\u2019s local derby with Oldham Athletic.<\/p>\n

What Was Said<\/h3>\n

Tanner spoke to to the Salford website about his move; \u201cI think Salford are pushing for promotion, that\u2019s their main aim whereas at Morecambe they are in a relegation battle so it\u2019s completely different, and I look forward to a new challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve really enjoyed it, managed to play 29 games in the space of six months so it\u2019s been quite hectic, I\u2019ve learned a lot from those games.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a right-back, I like to think I\u2019m a modern-day right back so I like to get forward and defend obviously, so whatever I can add to the team is probably going to be bombing forward, getting forward, getting crosses into the box and then obviously defending.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLeague Two is completely different to Under-23s football so I\u2019m glad I\u2019ve experienced it and it sets me in good stead for the future. It gives me that experience, I\u2019ve got 29 games under my belt so far and hopefully, I can get some more games under my belt before the end of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n
