Lincoln City<\/a> have made their sixth January signing. The Imps have signed striker Tom Hopper from Southend United<\/a> for an undisclosed fee.<\/p>\n

Lincoln announced via their website<\/a> they had signed the striker. Hopper arrives as Lincoln\u2019s latest recruit joining for an undisclosed fee. He has signed a deal which runs until the summer of 2023.<\/p>\n

The striker becomes Michael Appleton\u2019s sixth acquisition. Hopper continues Appleton\u2019s revolution as he looks to stamp his own authority on Lincoln.<\/p>\n

The striker flourished at Scunthorpe scoring 23 goals in three seasons with the Iron.<\/p>\n

Hopper has endured a difficult period with injuries blighting his time at Southend. However, he impressively scored 10 goals in 30 games including three this season for the Shrimpers.<\/p>\n

Hopper is a proven goalscorer at League One level and certainly adds goals to an already excellent Lincoln attack. Hopper\u2019s arrival suggests that Michael Appleton is preparing for the possible departure of Tyler Walker.<\/p>\n

Walker could return to Nottingham Forest with Sabri Lamouchi keeping a firm eye on the striker\u2019s development. He has scored seventeen goals this season for the Imps.<\/p>\n

Michael Appleton Delighted with Signing<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the Lincoln website<\/a> about his new signing, manager Michael Appleton said, \u201cWe have got a player who has come to the football club and is really hungry,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is at a fantastic age and he looks as fit and lean as I have ever seen him. He is desperate to do well. Tom is very experienced and strong mentally. He is a local lad, so he knows the football club really well, it did impress me when we met that he knew a lot about the club.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we need someone to hold the ball up and bring the midfielders into play, he will be very good at that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are trying to create a culture at the football club and Tom fits that bill perfectly. He has an understanding where the football club have been before and is obviously aware of the position we are in now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am sure he is looking forward to working with me, the staff and the players as much as we are looking forward to working with him,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he is someone who can help us compete at the top end of the level, he will be important in helping us reach our goal of getting promoted. I\u2019m not saying that will be done in the next 18 months, I have already put my neck out on the line to say it will happen in the next three and a half years.\u201d<\/p>\n

“I am happy to say that because having players like Tom in the building will help me achieve that.\u201d<\/p>\n
