Macclesfield Town<\/a> have appointed Mark Kennedy as their new head coach. Kennedy replaces Daryl McMahon, who resigned at the beginning of January. Kennedy arrives on an initial deal until the end of the season.<\/p>\n

The Silkmen announced via their website<\/a> Kennedy had been appointed as their new head coach. Kennedy is joined by Danny Butterfield and Macclesfield legend Danny Whitaker.<\/p>\n

Butterfield and former caretaker manager Whitaker are in as Kennedy\u2019s assistants. Whitaker collected four points from his two games in caretaker charge prior to Kennedy\u2019s appointment.<\/p>\n

Kennedy was most recently in charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers\u2019<\/a> U23 team. He returns to Macclesfield having been Sol Campbell\u2019s assistant last season.<\/p>\n

This will be Kennedy\u2019s first full management job having coached at the likes of Ipswich Town since retiring in 2012.<\/p>\n

Kennedy\u2019s first game in charge will be Macclesfield\u2019s trip to Colchester United this weekend.<\/p>\n

Macclesfield\u2019s Takeover Edges Closer<\/h3>\n

There also seems to be good news on the takeover front for Macclesfield. The Silkmen have endured a turbulent time off the pitch with postponed games, unpaid wages and points deductions.<\/p>\n

However, a takeover appears to be close according to current owner Amar Alkadhi.<\/p>\n

He told the Macclesfield website<\/a>: \u201cBack in December, I advised that negotiations regarding the sale of a controlling stake in the club were at an advanced stage with various third parties.<\/p>\n

\u201cMuch progress has been made in this regard since then and this is exemplified by the fact that bids have now been accepted in principle.<\/p>\n

\u201cLegally, I cannot divulge any further information on these as they are subject to non-disclosure agreements which I have to respect.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuffice to say that every effort is being made to conclude this process in a timely manner and that I will work tirelessly with everyone concerned until the sale is complete.\u201d<\/p>\n
