Carlisle United<\/a> have made their third January signing. The Cumbrians have signed striker Joshua Kayode on loan from Rotherham United<\/a> until the end of the season.<\/p>\n

The Deal<\/h3>\n

Carlisle announced via their website they had signed the striker for the remainder of the season. Kayode arrives on loan from Rotherham after spending the first half of the season at non-league Gateshead.<\/p>\n

Kayode scored nine goals in 27 games for the National League North side. He will add some much-needed firepower to a very blunt Carlisle attack.<\/p>\n

Kayode could make his debut this weekend when Carlisle travel to Oldham in a crucial clash at the bottom of League Two.<\/p>\n

What Was Said<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the Carlisle website about his new signing, head coach Chris Beech said<\/a>: \u201cHe’s a player who is young, ambitious, and he wants to come here and make an impact. He is 100% up for this opportunity and he wants to come in and do as well as he can.<\/p>\n

“He’s got his career in front of him and he’s making good inroads at Rotherham. He’s been out and played men’s football at Gateshead in the first half of the season and was excellent for them.<\/p>\n

“Rotherham have a development plan for him in terms of when he’ll be ready for their first team but, because of his progression at Gateshead, he’s actually six months in front of himself which has meant we’ve been able to take him on loan.<\/p>\n

“He’s recently signed a new contract at Rotherham, and he’ll bring physicality and pace as well as goals to our team. He’s scored plenty of goals for Gateshead already and we’re looking for him to carry that on.”<\/p>\n

Kayode Relishing the Opportunity to Impress at Carlisle<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the Rotherham website about his temporary switch to Carlisle, Kayode said:<\/a> \u201cI\u2019m looking forward to it and it\u2019s going to be a real test because it\u2019s a Football League club and that\u2019s something new to me.<\/p>\n

“Being at Gateshead has allowed me to realise what three points mean, but the stakes are even higher this time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve spoken to the gaffer at Carlisle and he\u2019s told me exactly what he expects from me, so I\u2019m just going to go there and give everything I\u2019ve got.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe staff at Rotherham invited me into their office and they all spoke to me about the plan moving forward, and they were all really complimentary about my development which I\u2019m happy to hear. They now think this is the perfect move for me to continue improving as a footballer.<\/p>\n

\u201cGetting into the league was the next objective for me and I\u2019m delighted that is happening. I\u2019m full of confidence right now and I\u2019m going to try my best for the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve spoken to Jerry Yates about Carlisle and he just told me straight up that it\u2019s a great club, so I\u2019m up for the challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n
