AC Milan<\/a> have confirmed that they have signed Bournemouth<\/a> goalkeeper Asmir Begovic<\/a> on loan until the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Not Needed At Bournemouth<\/h3>\n

The Bosnian international has fallen out of favour under Eddie Howe at Bournemouth.<\/p>\n

Begovic began the 2018-19 season as the first-choice goalkeeper, but he then lost his place to Artur Boruc<\/a> towards the end of the season.<\/p>\n

This season has seen Eddie Howe hand Aaron Ramsdale<\/a> the first-team spot at the Vitality Stadium. However, Begovic did not get a reserve spot, with Mark Travers<\/a> and Boruc acting as back-up to Ramsdale.<\/p>\n

Instead, the 32-year-old was sent out on loan to Azerbaijani side FK Qarabag, making 17 appearances during his short-term spell.<\/p>\n

Back-Up Role for Asmir Begovic at AC Milan<\/h3>\n

Begovic will play a bit-part role at the San Siro, as he will provide back-up to current Milan number one Gianluigi Donnarumma<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old has held the number one spot with Milan since making his debut in 2015. This season has seen him make 18 appearances in Serie A, conceding 23 goals.<\/p>\n

Begovic replaces Pepe Reina,<\/a> becoming the new second-choice keeper. The 37-year-old has joined Aston Villa<\/a> on loan<\/a> until the end of the season, as Villa search for a short-term replacement for the injured Tom Heaton.<\/a><\/p>\n

Poor Season For AC Milan<\/h3>\n

AC Milan saw a poor first half of the season in Serie A. They currently lie 11th in the table, and are four points off the Europa League places.<\/p>\n

Their poor season was summarised by the sacking of Marco Giampaolo in early October after three wins from their opening seven games.<\/p>\n

With the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic<\/a>, they will be hoping that they can at least qualify for next season’s Europa League.<\/p>\n
