A Chelsea<\/a> supporter accused of racially abusing Tottenham<\/a> forward Heung-Min Son was arrested during Sunday’s London derby.<\/p>\n

Racial Abuse<\/h3>\n

Sunday’s game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was stopped during the second half by referee Anthony Taylor.<\/p>\n

The match official stopped play for an allegation of racist abuse aimed at Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger.<\/p>\n

Spurs are conducting an investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n

The London side have said that, after studying hours of CCTV footage, it has proved “inconclusive” that a fan was abusive.<\/p>\n

However, it has emerged that an away fan was ejected and arrested during the game.<\/p>\n

The Metropolitan Police, who are investigating the alleged abuse of Rudiger, confirmed a supporter was arrested.<\/p>\n

The individual was alleged of committing a racially aggravated public order offence understood to have been aimed at Spurs’ Son.<\/p>\n

It is unknown when exactly the incident preceding the arrest took place.<\/p>\n

Son was sent off following a VAR review for kicking out at Rudiger on 62 minutes.<\/p>\n

Antonio Rudiger Abuse<\/h3>\n

Rudiger reported the alleged abuse during Sunday’s 2-0 win.<\/p>\n

It led to the Premier League deploying their anti-discrimination protocol for the first time.<\/p>\n

Rudiger mimicked a monkey gesture as he and captain Cesar Azpilicueta reported the abuse to referee Taylor.<\/p>\n

A message distributed over the tannoy said: “Racist behaviour among spectators is interfering with the game. Please remember that racism has no place in football.”<\/p>\n

In addition, Tottenham released their own statement, saying: “We are now conducting a thorough investigation which will include liaising with Chelsea and their players for their observations.<\/p>\n

“Any form of racism is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our stadium.<\/p>\n

“We take any such allegations extremely seriously and shall take the strongest possible action against any individual found to be behaving in such a way, including stadium bans.”<\/p>\n
