It can be argued that they have become ‘stale’, finishing in the upper echelons of the bottom half of the Premier League. However, with Roy Hodgson at the helm for Crystal Palace, they are promised consistency. With the inevitably of a sale of Wilfried Zaha, and uncertain times of the pitch, should the Eagles keep hold of Roy Hodgson for another season?

Tight Performances, Consistent Results: Should Crystal Palace Keep Roy Hodgson for Another Year?

Consistency Is Key, And Roy Hodgson Can Promise That

After a run of five games without a win, most fans would anticipate a continuation of the downturn in form.

However, Crystal Palace bounced back in the most Crystal Palace fashion against Burnley. It was by no means their best performance, but the Eagles came away with all three points at Turf Moor after goals from Wilfried Zaha and Jeffrey Schlupp sealed their win.

The win against Burnley was a reminder of what Roy Hodgson can offer at Selhurst Park: tight – and by no means spectacular – performances, as well as consistent results. Under the 72-year-old, Palace have only suffered more than three defeats in a row once – and that was during the 2017/18 season. When it gets tough, there always feels a sense of inevitability that he will turn it around.

A run of fixtures against the five sides that lay above them. Palace had to look beyond that, to try and come out the other side relatively unscathed. Despite some below-par performances, they were not humiliated in any of their five games and could have beaten Arsenal at The Emirates and taken a vital point against Liverpool.

Now, they enter a period where they do not face another current top ten side until January 11. As a result, it is a time to build consistency and confidence for a promising second half of the season.

Hodgson Can Steer The Ship Through Potentially Uncertain Times At Crystal Palace

Amidst rumours of a takeover at Selhurst Park according to Talksport, as well as a sense of that star play Wilfried Zaha will leave in the near future, these are uncertain times at Crystal Palace.

As a result, they need a careful pair of hands in charge. Changing manager does not always work, especially when there are so few that Palace haven’t had in their recent formula of managers.

The next appointment in the managerial hot seat at Crystal Palace is likely to go in one of two ways. A young British manager, or experimenting with a foreign manager for only the second time in their history. If Zaha is to leave, or a takeover is to happen, that puts an enormous amount of pressure on any potential new manager. However, under the guidance of Roy Hodgson, they would be steered through cautious times.

Will He Sign A New Contract?

It was confirmed at the end of October that he was negotiating a new contract. However, there is yet to be any progress on the matter.

At 73 years old, critics would forgive Roy Hodgson for choosing not to sign a new contract. He has performed wonders for the Eagles and has helped cement their place even further as a Premier League side.

Roy Hodgson Needs To Stay – For Now

While he is not the future of Crystal Palace, Roy Hodgson needs to remain at Selhurst Park for another season. Having the 73-year-old at the helm will be beneficial for when Wilfried Zaha eventually departs south London.

Main Photo

A 2-0 win over Burnley saw Crystal Palace return to winning ways, and showed why they should maintain faith in Roy Hodgson for another season.

[29,12,3
547,40,411,548,136
post-537466","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-editorials","category-crystal-palace","category-premier-league","tag-crystal-palace","tag-premier-league","tag-roy-hodgson","tag-wilfried-zaha","tag-world-football
["GET
