Matty Taylor<\/a> scored a brace as Oxford United<\/a> ran out 4-0 winners at Sol Campbell’s Southend United<\/a>, extended the U’s unbeaten run to fifteen games in all competitions.<\/p>\n

The on-loan Bristol City forward opened the scoring at Roots Hall after just 53 seconds, and he added a third for the U’s five minutes before the end.<\/p>\n

Strikers Display Underlines Another Impressive U’s Display<\/h3>\n

Oxford United are in devastating form, and Karl Robinson’s side are now fifteen games unbeaten.<\/p>\n

The U’s are 6th in League One, face an away tie against League Two Walsall in the FA Cup<\/a> second round, and welcome Manchester City<\/a> in the last eight of the Carabao Cup.<\/p>\n

The performances and the score lines have been equally as impressive. As have the players individual performances and Taylor is just one of the in-form players at the club.<\/p>\n

The Oxford-born striker has now scored seven goals in just thirteen appearances for the U’s.<\/p>\n

It’s not just his goal tally that’s impressive. The 29-year-old scored what proved to be the winner as Oxford won 2-1 at Rotherham United<\/a>, and scored an injury-time equaliser as the U’s secured a point at Portsmouth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

How Far Can Oxford Go?<\/h3>\n

It’s going to be hard to see Oxford reaching the semi-final of the Carabao Cup with holders Manchester City their opponents in the last eight.<\/p>\n

Most would back the U’s to progress to the third round of the FA Cup with victory at Walsall, and the third round onwards is unpredictable.<\/p>\n

But it’s the league that will be the priority for Oxford. This is the fourth season the U’s have been in League One after Michael Appleton guided the U’s to promotion<\/a>, but following his exit to join Leicester City after guiding the U’s to an 8th placed finish, the club haven’t progressed in the third tier.<\/p>\n

A 16th placed finish followed, with Pep Clotet then Robinson both taking charge of managerial duties, then, in Robinson’s first full season, the U’s struggled to secure a mid-table finish.<\/p>\n

But this season, they are flying and will certainly be fighting for promotion come the end of the season.<\/p>\n
