Everton and Tottenham Hotspur failed to impress after heading into this Premier League encounter<\/a> in need of a victory. Everton<\/a> have struggled at home whilst Tottenham<\/a> have become a shadow of the team of recent seasons. Whilst Everton had few injury concerns, Harry Kane<\/a> did not feature due to illness for Tottenham. Serge Aurier<\/a> and Christian Eriksen<\/a> both started.<\/p>\n

Two Teams, Too Poor as VAR Gets it Wrong Again<\/h2>\n

Everton and Tottenham Fail to Impress<\/h3>\n

Two teams low on confidence were in evidence in the first half. Within four minutes Everton launched a long ball over the top but it was too long for Theo Walcott<\/a> and Paulo Gazzaniga<\/a> averted the danger. Christian Eriksen was booked, but that aside it was a poor first half.<\/p>\n

Dele Silences the Doubters<\/h3>\n

The second half started with more verve and Dele Alli<\/a> gave Tottenham the lead on 63 minutes. Son Heung Min ran at pace and fed Alli who finished well.<\/p>\n

VAR Becomes Centre of Attention Again<\/h3>\n

VAR again failed. Son Heung-Min was fouled twice yet no penalty was given. The replays were clear it was a penalty. On 72 minutes, Dele Alli had his hand in the air. The ball hit his hand. Every VAR angle showed a clear handball, yet no penalty. It is worrying how VAR looks at so many angles and consequently still gets it wrong.<\/p>\n

Son Heung-Min was then sent off for a foul on Andre Gomes<\/a>. The Everton midfielder suffered a horrific leg injury. Son caught Gomes but it was his trailing leg that subsequently caught the pitch. Son was devastated and VAR should have told the officials it was no red card.<\/p>\n

Everton and Tottenham Fail to Impress Again<\/h3>\n

Ultimately both teams won\u2019t be happy with a draw. There was little to separate the sides and less to suggest that either will creep up the league any time soon.<\/p>\n

The injury to Gomes is the main concern and everyone will wish him a speedy recovery.<\/p>\n

For Everton and Tottenham, the season needs some passion. Maybe bonfire night may give both clubs the rocket they need.<\/p>\n
