Union Berlin<\/a> have ended their four-game winless run with a 2-0 win at home to SC Freiburg. Marius B\u00fctler gave\u00a0Die Eisernen\u00a0<\/em>a first-minute lead but had to wait until the 84th minute before Marcus Ingvartsen<\/a> secured all three points for the newly promoted Bundesliga side.<\/p>\n

Union Berlin End Four-Game Winless Run<\/h2>\n

This was Union’s first three points since another spectacular home win; a 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And like the Dortmund match, the stadium was rocking. Urs Fischer made two enforced changes with Neven Subotic<\/a> and Sheraldo Becker<\/a> both out injured, but the changes didn’t affect their start.<\/p>\n

B\u00fctler clipped the ball into space and smashed a stunning right-foot drive past Alexander Schwolow<\/a> from the best part of 30 yards.<\/p>\n

Union will be pleased with their first-half display and Sebastian Andersson<\/a> headed into the net, but referee Benjamin Cortus whistled for a foul. B\u00fclter continued to be a menace throughout the half, changing sides with Ingvartsen and creating disorganisation in the Freiburg ranks.<\/p>\n

Midway through the first half, the goalscorer drove down the wing and sent in a tantalising cross but there were no takers from the players in red.<\/p>\n

Freiburg’s coach Christian Streich was clearly looking for more after the break and he introduced Nils Petersen<\/a> for the second half.<\/p>\n

Union handled the extra physical presence from the visitors and missed a handful of opportunities through Parensen, B\u00fclter and Ingvartsen. Felix Kroos<\/a> took Gentner’s place after 77 minutes as Fischer pushed for fresh legs in the middle of the park. Anthony Ujah<\/a> soon followed, the Nigerian striker replacing Sebastian Andersson.<\/p>\n

The Swede was denied by Thiede shortly before his substitution, the chance created by an excellent overlap from Christopher Lenz<\/a><\/p>\n

Six minutes from time, Union patiently moved the ball upfield in the direction of Ingvartsen on the right-side. The Dane dribbled infield and fired a wonderful, dipping strike over the substitute goalkeeper and into the net \u2014 his first goal for 1. FC Union Berlin since joining in the summer.<\/p>\n

Can Union Go on a Run?<\/h3>\n

After ending the run of four straight defeats in the Bundesliga<\/a>, Urs Fischer’s team will make the trip south to the German champions Bayern Munich<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Already, you would fancy a Bayern side that knocked seven past Tottenham<\/a> in the Champions League<\/a>. It will be a difficult task for Die Eisernen,\u00a0<\/em>but the reds have already beaten Dortmund.<\/p>\n
