Sky Bet League Two side Leyton Orient have appointed Carl Fletcher as their new head coach.<\/p>\n
The former Plymouth Argyle boss moves to London with a deal until the end of the 2020\/21 season at E10.<\/p>\n
Fletcher joins the club as the permanent successor to Justin Edinburgh after the former Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> player died aged 49 in June following a cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n Fletcher had been working as loan manager at Bournemouth prior to making his switch to the London side.<\/p>\n Spending his playing days at West Ham United<\/a> and Crystal Palace<\/a>, Fletcher knows the London realm well.<\/p>\n Speaking after the appointment, Orient director of football Martin Ling told the club website<\/a>: \u201cEveryone we spoke to said everything we wanted to hear. We spoke to Stephen Purches at Bournemouth, we had people speak to Eddie Howe and Charlie Daniels. We spoke to a couple of players who played under him at Plymouth as well as the people at board level at Bournemouth and they all said the same thing \u2013 they believe he\u2019s going to make a top-class football manager.\u201d<\/p>\n The appointment also confirms that Orient interim head coach Ross Embleton will return to his former role of assistant head coach.<\/p>\n Danny Webb and interim player-coach Jobi McAnuff will also be included in Fletcher’s backroom team.<\/p>\n Fletcher appears a relatively inexperienced appointment for Leyton Orient.<\/p>\n The 39-year-old spent two years in charge of Plymouth Argyle before taking a role at Bournemouth<\/a>.<\/p>\n During his time in Devon, Fletcher managed a win percentage of just 24.3% from his 70 matches in charge.<\/p>\n Before becoming the Cherries’ loan manager, Fletcher had a coaching role with their U23 side.<\/p>\n Analysis by Aaron Patel<\/a>, writer for Last Word on Football.<\/em><\/p>\n It goes without saying that Carl Fletcher has huge boots to fill.
