A fantastic Ligue 1 Match week has been and gone with plenty of talking points from the eighth round of games. Paris Saint-Germain<\/a> cruised past Angers in the top of the table clash while Bordeaux and Saint Etienne collected derby wins, the latter in their first game under Claude Puel. There was also vital wins for struggling teams Brest and Dijon.<\/p>\n

Claude Puel Gets Dream Start at Saint Etienne<\/h2>\n

Saint Etienne Start Claude Puel Reign With Win<\/h3>\n

Claude Puel enjoyed a dream start in charge of Saint Etienne as they collected a late win over bitter rivals Lyon in the Rhonalpin Derby. A game in which both sides desperately needed a win, it was former Leicester City<\/a> manager Puel who was celebrating at full time. Meanwhile, the pressure firmly increases on Sylvinho whose Lyon side are now winless in seven league games.<\/p>\n

It was a much tighter game than many expected with the game in short supply of chances but, crucially Saint Etienne took one of theirs in the 90th<\/sup> minute of the match. The hero of the hour was substitute Robert Beric who headed Riyad Boudebouz\u2019s cross past Anthony Lopes.<\/p>\n

The result sees Saint Etienne climb out of the relegation zone and up to 12th in the table, sinking Lyon to 14th.<\/p>\n

Amiens Collect Magnificent Win Over Marseille<\/h3>\n

It was a Friday night that many Amiens fans will never forget as they collected a magnificent 3-1 win over Marseille. A fantastic success for Luka Elsner, whose side played outstandingly from start to finish against a lacklustre Marseille whose manager, Andre Villas-Boas, was very disappointed after the match.<\/p>\n

The home side opening the scoring after just 11 minutes as Haitam Aleesami latched on Gael Kakuta\u2019s teasing cross at the back post. Amiens were pegged back a few minutes later when Dario Benedetto fired a fierce shot into the bottom corner.<\/p>\n

But, a key moment in the contest came on the cusp of half time when Amiens were awarded a penalty after Duje Caleta-Car fouled Serhou Guirassy. Guirassy stepped up and fired the penalty in the net.\u00a0 The home side battled in the second half and sealed their tremendous victory in stoppage time through Stiven Mendoza who coolly slotted past a helpless Steve Mandanda.<\/p>\n
