Union Berlin<\/a> suffered a third successive Bundesliga defeat, despite scoring a late goal at home against Europa League side Eintracht Frankfurt<\/a>. Frankfurt took all three points from K\u00f6penick, despite a dominant first-half display from\u00a0Die Eisernen.<\/em><\/p>\n

Union Berlin Fall to Eintracht Frankfurt<\/h2>\n

A Tale of two halves<\/h3>\n

Bas Dost<\/a> and Andre Silva<\/a> both netted a goal in the first 17 minutes of the second half before Union substitutes Sheraldo Becker<\/a> and Anthony Ujah<\/a> combined on 86 minutes, the Nigerian slotting home his first Bundesliga goal for the club.<\/p>\n

But it was the hosts who were looking to put this run of defeats to a stop, and Neven Subotic<\/a>, Akaki Gogia<\/a>, Manuel Schmiedebach<\/a>, and Ken Reichel<\/a> all came into the side. Urs Fischer<\/a>, who signed a new deal during the week, addressed last weeks issues and the hosts showed an energetic response.<\/p>\n

Die Eisernen\u00a0<\/em>threatened, and Kevin Trapp<\/a> had to be on hand to keep the newly-promoted side at bay. The Europa League side had their chances as well, but despite not opening the scoring, Union would have been the happier side as they headed into the break level.<\/p>\n

The hosts made the worst possible start to the second half, though, as Bas Dost<\/a> reacted quickly and pounced to knock in the opener.<\/p>\n

Union were rattled, and Fischer was forced into making a substitution and changing the game plan through injury, but the visitors sprung a decisive second goal shortly after. Djibril Sow’s perfectly delivered cross was met by Andre Silva as the visitors began to gain control.<\/p>\n

Union still created chances, and Trapp was forced into making more saves still. But he was unable to maintain a clean sheet when Anthony Ujah<\/a> finished cleverly four minutes from full-time.<\/p>\n

The hosts were unable to push for an equaliser, but this was probably the best performance of their three recent defeats.<\/p>\n

What is Next for Union Berlin?<\/h3>\n

Union will need to bounce back sooner rather than later but will face a tricky tie next Sunday when they travel to VfL Wolfsburg.<\/a><\/p>\n

Union sit on four points, just outside the relegation zone with most sides in action later today, and they will not want to travel West next week sitting among the bottom clubs in the league.<\/p>\n
