{"id":530205,"date":"2019-09-20T03:30:07","date_gmt":"2019-09-20T07:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonfootball.com\/?p=530205"},"modified":"2019-09-19T17:10:14","modified_gmt":"2019-09-19T21:10:14","slug":"oxford-united-unbeaten-lincoln-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2019\/09\/20\/oxford-united-unbeaten-lincoln-city\/","title":{"rendered":"Oxford United Look to Extend Their Unbeaten Run Against Lincoln City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonfootball.com\/search\/Oxford+united\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oxford United<\/a> will be looking to go three games unbeaten when the U&#8217;s travel to managerless <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonfootball.com\/search\/Lincoln+City\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lincoln City<\/a> this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Karl Robinson&#8217;s side eased past <a href=\"https:\/\/oxford.vitalfootball.co.uk\/match-report-league-one-oxford-united-3-0-tranmere-rovers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tranmere Rovers<\/a> last Saturday but came unstuck against a resilient <a href=\"https:\/\/oxford.vitalfootball.co.uk\/match-report-league-one-bolton-wanderers-0-0-oxford-united\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bolton Wanderers<\/a> on Tuesday night as the Trotters picked up just their second point of the season.<\/p>\n<h2>Oxford United Look to Extend Their Unbeaten Run<\/h2>\n<h3>Disappointment Last Time, But Can the U&#8217;s Record a Win?<\/h3>\n<p>Despite scoring three in the win over Tranmere, finding the back of the net has been a problem for Robinson, with two of those goals coming from the spot.<\/p>\n<p>The U&#8217;s drew a blank in Bolton as both sides played out a goalless draw and, although Oxford have now kept consecutive clean sheets for the first time in the league this season, they now need to improve at the other end.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oxford.vitalfootball.co.uk\/new-striker-joins-the-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matty Taylor<\/a> started that game but has struggled with opportunities to convert, and is still awaiting his first goal. Jamie Mackie has only found the net once this season, with the majority of goals coming from midfield.<\/p>\n<p>The Imps made an impressive start to their League One campaign, picking up three wins from their opening three games and overcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonfootball.com\/clubs\/huddersfield-town\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Huddersfield Town<\/a> in the Carabao Cup.<\/p>\n<p>But since then, Lincoln have won just once from six games and were knocked out of the cup at <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonfootball.com\/clubs\/everton\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Everton<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Team News and Previous Meetings<\/h3>\n<p>It&#8217;s likely Robinson will field the same side that drew at Bolton, but <a href=\"https:\/\/oxford.vitalfootball.co.uk\/us-trio-could-return-for-lincoln-trip\/amp\/?__twitter_impression=true\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Elliott Moore and Jamie Mackie<\/a> could return to the squad after recovering from injury.<\/p>\n<p>For Lincoln, John Akinde has netted twice, while Tylor Walker has found the net on five occasions. Former Oxford loanee, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oufc.co.uk\/news\/2018\/january\/payne-recalled\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jack Payne<\/a>, has been an integral part of the midfield, while summer target and Banbury-born <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonfootball.com\/2019\/07\/06\/oxford-united-jorge-grant-lincoln-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jorge Grant<\/a> has netted once from seven appearances.<\/p>\n<p>The Imps have lost just once at Sincil Bank this season, conceding just once, while Oxford are still winless on their travels.<\/p>\n<p>The two sides haven&#8217;t faced each other since the 2010\/11 season when Oxford returned to League Two.
