Motherwell striker James Scott is a keen target for Sheffield United and a number of other Premier League outfits according to Team Talk.<\/a><\/p>\n

Motherwell Striker Wanted By Premier League Sides<\/h2>\n

A series of Premier League clubs are chasing the signature of Motherwell starlet Scott.<\/p>\n

Scott’s Motherwell team-mate, David Turnbull, was close to moving away after a breakthrough season; however, summer transfers to Celtic and Norwich City<\/a> failed to come to fruition.<\/p>\n

According to Team Talk, Scott is attracting interest from a number of top-flight clubs including Bournemouth<\/a>, Everton<\/a>, Southampton<\/a> and Sheffield United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has a prolific track record in developing young players – Callum Wilson, Josh King and Lewis Cook are all examples of this.<\/p>\n

Everton\u2019s sporting director Marcel Brands, meanwhile, has regularly produced dazzling players while Southampton coach Ralph Hasenhuttl has a philosophy in which young players are the core of his squa.<\/p>\n

Scott can play as either a central forward or as a winger. He made his senior debut for Motherwell in April 2018. Since making the breakthrough, Scott has made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish Premiership side.<\/p>\n

He also hit four goals to his name before making his international debut for Scotland’s Under-21 side in their recent head-to-head meeting with San Marino.<\/p>\n

EFL Interest<\/h3>\n

In addition to interest from England’s top division, 19-year-old Scott is also reportedly a target for a host of EFL clubs.<\/p>\n

Championship pair Bristol City and Barnsley lead the chase from outside the Premier League; League One promotion hopefuls Sunderland are also keen on the talented teen.<\/p>\n

One major disadvantage for the clubs chasing Scott’s signature is that the winger signed a new contract in February that secures his future at Fir Park to the summer of 2022.<\/p>\n

A move to the Premier League may be more attractive in the short-term. On the other hand, a move to the Championship – or even League One – will be better overall. It will give Scott a chance of more regular playing time. In addition, being just 19 means Scott still hs plenty of time to make his way into the Premier League.<\/p>\n
