More than 485,000 managers<\/a> have already played their first wildcard in this season’s Fantasy Premier League. Here, we provide suggestions for building the perfect Gameweek Three wildcard team for those who have already deployed the wildcard chip this week.<\/p>\n

Building a Gameweek Three Wildcard Team<\/h2>\n

Volatile Market<\/h3>\n

FPL managers witnessed a crazy Gameweek Two last week. There was that Teemu Pukki<\/a> (\u00a36.8) hat-trick that sent everyone rush to buy him. His price has already increased by 0.3 units. Then, there was that great performance by Kevin De Bruyne<\/a> (\u00a39.6). Now, he seems essential.<\/p>\n

Almost everyone that did well in Gameweek Two seemed to be getting a price increase. On the other hand, non-performers like Ryan Fraser<\/a> (\u00a37.4) has already seen a price drop. This has prompted many to deploy the wildcard chip ahead of Gameweek Three. However, for the wildcard to be successful, one needs to concentrate first on the fixtures and then the form of the players. The season is long and there will be crazy gameweeks from time to time. Only two wildcards are available for the season. One has to use them wisely.<\/p>\n

Essential Players<\/h3>\n

On current form, one would have to get both Raheem Sterling<\/a> (\u00a312.2) and Kevin De Bruyne (\u00a39.6). Manchester City<\/a> have great fixtures coming up. In fact, their next four fixtures could see them rack up some big wins. Sterling and De Bruyne may not be rotated as much by Guardiola but then again who knows.<\/p>\n

John Lundstram<\/a> (\u00a34.1) has started both matches in midfield for Sheffield United<\/a>. He is the highest-scoring defender with 17 points at this stage. He even scored the winner in the last game. What’s not to like?<\/p>\n

Harry Kane<\/a> (\u00a311.0) has Newcastle United<\/a> at home this week. He also has some nice fixtures coming up. He should be there in a wildcard team.<\/p>\n

Sadio Man\u00e9<\/a> (\u00a311.5) looked in superb form in the last two matches. He scored twice against Chelsea<\/a> in the UEFA Super Cup and then scored a great goal against Southampton<\/a> last weekend. He should be picked over Mohamed Salah<\/a> to save one unit.<\/p>\n

So, we have picked five players so far at a cost of \u00a348.4.<\/p>\n

Filling the Gaps<\/h3>\n

Despite Teemu Pukki’s (\u00a36.8) tricky fixtures, one needs to get him in due to his form. He seems to be the talisman for Norwich City<\/a>. These types of players are great to have. Also, Norwich play quite attacking football which makes them likely to score in most games. If Pukki can score at Anfield, he can score anywhere. Similarly, his Norwich partner Todd Cantwell<\/a> (\u00a34.6) offers great value. One could look at other 4.5 midfielders like Douglas Luiz<\/a> and Leander Dendoncker<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In midfield, Anthony Martial<\/a> (\u00a37.7) should be picked. He is playing upfront at home against Crystal Palace<\/a>. In the long run, a midfielder playing as a striker offers great promise. Other options in this price bracket are inconsistent. Chelsea have good fixtures but their performances have not impressed so far. Mason Mount<\/a> and Pedro could be considered. However, Martial looks a much better prospect.<\/p>\n

Defence<\/h3>\n

Everton<\/a> have kept clean sheets in both their matches. An Everton defender should definitely be there in your side and Lucas Digne<\/a> (\u00a36.0) is the one to go for. His injury status makes him a slight doubt but it is nothing serious according to his manager<\/a>. Seamus Coleman<\/a> (\u00a35.5) can be considered as well.<\/p>\n

Kyle Walker-Peters<\/a> (\u00a35.0) seems to be the preferred option at right-back for Tottenham Hotspur<\/a>. He has a great clean sheet opportunity against Newcastle United this week. It is a bit of a risk going forward but his price is definitely attractive. Aaron Wan-Bissaka<\/a> (\u00a35.5) would be another great option. Unfortunately, it is tough to fit him in unless one decides against getting Lucas Digne.<\/p>\n

Now two cheap defenders are needed to complete the defence. Martin Kelly<\/a> (\u00a34.0) has started both games and can be a decent option on the bench. Obviously, one cannot expect wonders from him. Many options are available at \u00a34.5. \u00c7aglar S\u00f6y\u00fcnc\u00fc, Mart\u00edn Montoya<\/a>, Ahmed El Mohamady and Matthew Lowton<\/a> are probably the best options.<\/p>\n

Goalkeepers<\/h3>\n

Unfortunately, only \u00a38.5 or \u00a39.0 units are now left for two keepers. So, one can pick David Button<\/a> at \u00a34.0 and select a \u00a34.5 unit starting keeper, or a rotation between two \u00a34.5 keepers is also possible. Nick Pope<\/a>, Mathew Ryan<\/a>, Tom Heaton<\/a> and Adri\u00e1n are the options to choose from.<\/p>\n
