Four sides remain without a point heading into the third game of the season. How will your side fare this week? Here is our preview of Premier League Matchweek three.

Premier League Preview: Matchweek Three

Key Games

Liverpool v Arsenal

Both sides showed their strengths to come away with three points last time out. The eagerness for both sides to maintain their unbeaten start should make for an entertaining game.

Arsenal‘s new-look squad will face a tough test against Liverpool at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp’s side boast an impressive record of 41 games without defeat at home in the Premier League. However, Arsenal now boast an impressive front three, and they could test Liverpool’s defence and the Adrian in goal.

However, Arsenal are still yet to show improvements in defence and could face a tough game against the Reds front three. October 7 2018 was the last time Liverpool failed to score at home, in what was a 0-0 draw with title rivals Manchester City. It is unlikely to be 0-0 come the full-time whistle at Anfield on Saturday evening.

Norwich City v Chelsea

The home side will be hoping to distance themselves from the tag of relegation candidates, while Chelsea will be looking for their first win under Frank Lampard. As a result, it should make for an entertaining clash at Carrow Road.

Chelsea made significant improvements in their second game of the season against Leicester. However, they could still not find the back of the net for their second goal, and had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Norwich have impressed during the first two games of the seasons. Despite a 4-1 drubbing away at Liverpool, they won their fair share of praise for their performance. The praise continued into Matchweek two, as they dominated Newcastle in their 3-1 victory. Daniel Farke’s side will be hoping to pull off the first big shock of the season.

LWOF Predicts

Aston Villa v Everton

Aston Villa will be hoping to end their run of back-to-back defeats by picking up points at home to Everton. However, up against an Everton side who are yet to concede a goal, Dean Smith’s team could face a tough test.

Aston Villa 1-1 Everton

Norwich City v Chelsea

Can Frank Lampard finally earn his first win as Chelsea manager? Norwich certainly won’t be an easy game for the Blues, who will have to improve drastically in defence to contain in form Teemu Pukki.

Norwich City 2-1 Chelsea

Brighton & Hove Albion v Southampton

Despite losing last weekend, the Saints looked an improved side following their 3-0 defeat to Burnley in Matchweek one. However, a new look Brighton & Hove Albion may prove too much for a side who only won four games away from home last season.

Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 Southampton

Manchester United v Crystal Palace

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping to make Old Trafford a fortress this season. The last time Manchester United went the entire season unbeaten at home was the 2010/11 campaign. They face Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday and extend their unbeaten run.

Manchester United 3-0 Crystal Palace

Sheffield United v Leicester City

Confidence is high at Bramall Lane after picking up four points from their first two games. However, up against a strong Leicester side, they may be brought back down to reality.

Sheffield United 0-2 Leicester City

Watford v West Ham

Both sides are still on the hunt for their first wins of the season. Watford are yet to score a goal so far this season but could earn their first points of the season at Vicarage Road this weekend

Watford 1-1 West Ham

Liverpool v Arsenal

This game could prove to either be a fantastic end-to-end affair or demonstrate a tight defence performance by the away side. We expect the former, with the home side edging the encounter.

Liverpool 2-1 Arsenal

Bournemouth v Manchester City

Eddie Howe was heavily criticised for the way he approached this game last season. His Bournemouth side managed just 18% position and failed to register a shot on goal as Manchester City won 1-0. Expect a similar game this time around.

Bournemouth 1-3 Manchester City

Tottenham v Newcastle United

Tottenham and Mauricio Pochettino could add to the misery surrounding Newcastle United on Sunday. The Magpies were dominated by Norwich in Matchweek two, and up against a better side, could be inflicted with further misery.

Tottenham 4-0 Newcastle United

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Burnley

Wolves looked unconvincing at points during their 1-1 draw with Manchester United. Following yet another away tie in the Europa League, they could come up short against Burnley.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-2 Burnley

Main Photo

Embed from Getty Images

Welcome to Last Word On Football’s Premier League preview, where each week we take a look at some of the key fixtures in the forthcoming matches.
