It was a day to savour for Josh Wright<\/a>. His first game since returning to Leyton Orient<\/a>, scoring the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Cheltenham Town. The former Gillingham player also won the man of the match award.<\/p>\n

The Wright Performance on His Return<\/h3>\n

A battling, determined and splendid are a few words to describe Josh Wright’s performance yesterday.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old was in the thick of nearly everything. A strong figure in the middle of the park, at times he was pulling the strings for the O’s.<\/p>\n

At times, it looked as if his partnership with Craig Clay<\/a> was the stuff of dreams. If the duo can maintain performances as such against the Robins, then O’s fans will be in dreamland this season.<\/p>\n

However, this is nothing new for O’s fans. Wright was previously solid for Orient during his last season at the club back in 2015.<\/p>\n

A special moment<\/h3>\n

Josh Wright’s 68th-minute winner was a special moment, for himself and everyone at the club.<\/p>\n

Wright was one of late O’s manager Justin Edinburgh’s closest friends. The two worked together at Gillingham and Wright was also Edinburgh’s final signing at the club.<\/p>\n

Lee Angol<\/a>‘s flick-on fell into the path of Wright, who calmly slotted home to give O’s all three points on their return to the EFL. Immediately after scoring, Wright paid tribute to Edinburgh holding up an Orient shirt with his name on it.<\/p>\n

It was the perfect start for Wright and Leyton Orient. They now begin as they mean to go on, as three points to start the campaign is exactly what they needed.<\/p>\n

Up next for the O’s, a tricky trip to Moss Rose as they face Sol Campbell’s Macclesfield Town, who survived on the final day of last season.<\/p>\n
