Paris Saint-Germain<\/a> have completed the signing of Everton<\/a> midfielder Idrissa Gueye<\/a> for an undisclosed fee. The Senegalese international has signed a four-year contract at the Parc des Princes.<\/p>\n

Idrissa Gueye Signs For Paris Saint-Germain<\/h2>\n

Last Season<\/h3>\n

A natural defensive midfielder, Gueye had a sensational season at the heart of Everton’s midfield. Despite not scoring, he did register two assists.<\/p>\n

However, it was his defensive statistics that earned him his move to the French champions. Last season he made on average 4.3<\/a> tackles per game. It saw him finish second in the tackling chart, behind Leicester City<\/a>‘s Wilfred Ndidi<\/a>. Furthermore, he also completed 2.2 interceptions and 1.2 blocks per game.<\/p>\n

What Was Said<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the PSG website<\/a>, the 29-year-old said: “I’m immensely proud to sign for Paris Saint-Germain.<\/p>\n

“I’d like to thank the directors, the coach and his staff for the confidence they have shown in me. I will do everything to justify the faith they have shown in me and to integrate into this talented squad.”<\/p>\n

How Will Idrissa Gueye Fit in at PSG?<\/h3>\n

Idrissa Gueye is the not the second central midfielder to arrive at PSG this summer. Spaniard Ander Herrera<\/a> has joined on a free transfer from fellow Premier League side Manchester United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As a result, it means Gueye will face stern competition for his place in Thomas Tuchel’s side. The German already has a number of midfielders available to him. Marco Verratti<\/a>, Leandro Paredes<\/a> and Julian Draxler<\/a> all featured regularly last season as PSG romped to the league title. Gueye and fellow arrival Herrera will have to impress to force their way into the side at the French champions.<\/p>\n

There will be high expectations for Idrissa Gueye to perform regardless of circumstances. PSG will be expecting to win yet another Ligue 1 trophy, as well as aiming for Champions League success – something that is still evading them.<\/p>\n
