Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> have had a turbulent close season with the departure of manager Steve Bruce<\/a>. The club are hoping to have a new manager in place for their first game of the new season, away at Reading<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Life After Steve Bruce<\/h3>\n

Steve Bruce<\/a> lasted a mere ten games at the helm of the Owls. Boyhood club\u00a0Newcastle United<\/a> came calling it was too much for the former Sheffield United<\/a> boss to turn down. Bruce has form for walking away from clubs soon after arriving; Crystal Palace<\/a>, Sheffield United to name but two. For Sheffield Wednesday, it has consequently hampered pre-season preparations as they search for a new manager ahead of the new first game away to Reading on 2nd August 2019.<\/p>\n

Managerial Candidates<\/h3>\n

Gary Rowett<\/a>, Chris Coleman<\/a> and Daniel Stengel<\/a> have all been linked with the vacant manager’s position at Sheffield Wednesday. Football League World have also said that Mauricio Pochettino may be involved with who becomes the new boss. It is rumoured that the Tottenham Hotspur boss<\/a> has recommended Nestor Lorenzo<\/a>, the former Colombia coach, to the club. It is a strange turn of events but Lorenzo<\/a>, 52, is said to be keen on a job in England. Pochettino has from for strong recommendations having recommended Marcelo Bielsa<\/a> to Leeds United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Transfers<\/h3>\n

Sheffield Wednesday players Daniel Pudil and George Boyd are among those released as free agents. Coming in are three free transfers in Julian Borner from Armini Bielefeld,<\/a> Moses Odubajo, a talented right back from Brentford<\/a>, and midfielder Kadeem Harris from Cardiff City.<\/a><\/p>\n

Sheffield Wednesday Season Targets<\/h3>\n

With attendances regularly over 25,000, Wednesday are a club that feel they should be playing at the highest level. Pre-season results<\/a> have been positive, but it is August 3 that the club are now focused on. The main priority has to be the play-offs with the ultimate goal of reaching the Premiership for the first time since 1999\/00<\/a> when they were relegated along with Wimbledon and Watford<\/a>.<\/p>\n
