West Ham United<\/a> midfielder Pedro Obiang<\/a> is set to have his move to Sassuolo completed, according to Sky Sports<\/a>. The midfielder is set to complete a \u00a37.2 million move to the Serie A side.<\/p>\n

Swapping Premier League for Serie A<\/h3>\n

Pedro Obiang is close to completing a move from West Ham to Serie A side Sassuolo. It is expected that the 27-year-old will arrive in Italy to finalise his move in the coming days, as per a report by Sky Sports.<\/p>\n

Obiang featured as a substitute in West Ham’s 4-1 friendly defeat to Manchester City<\/a> in the Premier League Asia Trophy last Wednesday; however, the midfielder did not feature in the 1-0 loss to Newcastle<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n

27-year-old Obiang, an Equatorial Guinea international, is due to have a medical at Sassulo this week. Ater making 116 appearances for West Ham, Obiang will return to Italy four years after his \u00a34 million move from Sampdoria to the Hammers.<\/p>\n

Budget Boosting Move for Hammers<\/h3>\n

By offloading Obiang the Hammers will generate extra transfer funds for manager Manuel Pellegrini. The Chilean is operating on a comparatively smaller budget at the London Stadium than other top-flight sides; however, the departure of Obiang would allow Pellegrini to strengthen his squad further.<\/p>\n

It has been well reported that Pellegrini is keen to bring another striker to West Ham following the club-record signing fee of Sebastien Haller<\/a> for \u00a345million from Eintracht Frankfurt.<\/p>\n

The Hammers could also, according to the Evening Standard<\/a>, consider signing a replacement for Obiang; however, the London side already have Mark Noble<\/a>, Declan Rice<\/a>, Jack Wilshere<\/a> and Carlos Sanchez<\/a>.<\/p>\n

West Ham are also keen to offload striker Jordan Hugill<\/a>; although, the forward’s wage demands have delayed a move to the Sky Bet Championship.<\/p>\n

Hugill has made just three substitute appearances for West Ham and spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough.<\/p>\n
