European Transfer Rumours<\/h1>\n

Griezmann Saga Twists Again<\/h2>\n

Despite Barcelona’s announcement,<\/a> Atletico Madrid has released another wild statement and brought a new twist to the Antoine Griezmann saga.\u00a0 This morning Barcelona<\/a> officially paid the \u20ac120 million release clause in Antoine Griezmann’s contract.\u00a0 On July 1st the clause dropped to\u00a0\u20ac120 million.<\/p>\n

However, because this transfer has been no secret to anyone, Atletico is trying to apply the\u00a0\u20ac200 million clause.\u00a0 They wrote in a statement;<\/a><\/p>\n

“Atl\u00e9tico de Madrid believes that the amount deposited is insufficient to meet its rescission clause, since it is obvious that the commitment of the player and the Football Club Barcelona was closed before the aforementioned clause was reduced from 200 to 120 million euros. euros\u00a0It was also prior to the date on which the clause was modified the communication that the player made on May 14 announcing his disengagement from the club.”<\/p>\n

Whether or not this statement will mean anything remains to be seen.\u00a0 Atletico would have to take this issue into the Spanish court system.\u00a0 That would delay the process for some time.\u00a0 And since Barcelona already paid the clause, Griezmann will continue as a Barcelona player until further notice.<\/p>\n

AC Milan Transfer Rumours<\/h2>\n

There are multiple deals on the table for AC Milan that could be closed by this weekend.\u00a0 The first is Ismael Bennacer<\/a>, a 21-year-old former Arsenal midfielder who made 37 Serie A appearances for Empoli last season. Paolo Maldini is expected to complete a\u00a0\u20ac16 million deal with Empoli later this evening, according to Calciomercato.<\/a><\/p>\n

But that’s not all.\u00a0 Milan has been in talks for a few weeks with Fiorentina midfielder Jordan Vertout.\u00a0 The latest information from Calciomercato<\/a> is that Milan has yet to reach Fiorentina’s valuation for the French midfielder.\u00a0 Fiorentina is expected to listen to other offers from Roma and France in the meantime.<\/p>\n

Finally, there is growing optimism that Milan will be able to get a deal done for Lazio winger Joaquin Correa.\u00a0 The ex-Sevilla man spent just one season at Lazio.\u00a0 But a bid including young Italian striker Patrick Cutrone<\/a> could intice Lazio to sell the Argentine.\u00a0 Goal in Italy<\/a> understands it would take roughly\u00a0\u20ac30 million-plus Cutrone to complete a deal.<\/p>\n
