Oxford United<\/a> are reportedly looking to sort a compensation fee with Motherwell<\/a> over winger\u00a0Chris Cadden<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old could go for as much as \u00a3270,000, according to Graeme McGarry at The Evening Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Chris Cadden Linked With Oxford United<\/h1>\n

Oxford Looking to Splash Some Cash<\/h2>\n

If Oxford<\/a> are to succeed in their pursuit of Cadden, it will come at a cost. As the player is under 24, compensation must be provided to the parent club, despite being out of contract this summer.<\/p>\n

As a result, Motherwell could be due \u20ac30,000 for each season the winger has played for the Scottish Premiership side. There’s also a likely possibility that Motherwell would be due 5% of any future transfer.<\/p>\n

The reported figure of \u00a3270,000 seems about right for Cadden. In 2016, Oxford signed Marvin Johnson<\/a>, also from Motherwell, for a reported fee of \u00a3650,000 according to the Oxford Mail’s<\/a> David Pritchard. The following summer, Championship side Middlesbrough<\/a> signed the winger for a reported \u00a33 million, with the Fir Park side initiating a 25% sell on fee.<\/p>\n

Chris Cadden at Motherwell<\/h2>\n

Cadden had a hit and miss season last term. He played as a wing back for early parts of the season, before a four-month absence following injury. He returned to action before the end of the season but the 22-year-old is out of contract this summer.<\/p>\n

The winger made his debut for the club in 2013 and has made over 120 appearances for them. Cadden has 12 caps for the U21 Scottish side, and made his senior debut in 2008 before adding his second cap.<\/p>\n

In 2017, Motherwell rejected a bid of around \u00a3450,000 from Oxford for Cadden<\/a>. The then 20-year-old was also the subject of interest from Hearts at the time.<\/p>\n

With the winger out of contract this summer, he also attracted interest from Doncaster Rovers. <\/a><\/p>\n

Oxford Transfers<\/h2>\n

Earlier this week, Oxford manager, Karl Robinson, told the Oxford Mail<\/a>: “We don\u2019t think we\u2019re too far away from one or two things. One involves a small transfer fee, so it\u2019s about getting that right.”<\/p>\n

So far, the U’s boss has only signed youngsters Kevin Berkoe<\/a> and Sam Allardyce<\/a>, neither of whom are likely to feature for the first team.<\/p>\n

The U’s were boosted by the news that Rob Hall<\/a> penned a new deal, but conceded that defender\u00a0Curtis Nelson,<\/a> has rejected his offer.<\/p>\n
