Sam Allardyce<\/a> becomes Oxford United’s<\/a> second signing in as many days as the defender joins the U’s.<\/p>\n

The 18-year-old, who came through the youth set up at Manchester United<\/a>, was released from Bury<\/a> at the end of the season following two years with the club.<\/p>\n

Oxford have made two signings already this summer, with two promising youngsters arriving at the club.<\/p>\n

Building for the future is something the manager, Karl Robinson<\/a>, is keen to instil at the club, and his recent signings have backed that.<\/p>\n

Allardyce, who is the grandson of his namesake and former England manager, told the Oxford Mail<\/a>: \u201cI came and had a look round and was really impressed with the way the club is set up and the way that Karl [Robinson] likes to try and help young players.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a big move for me, away from home and at an important stage of my career. I\u2019ll come here and give it my all and am determined to make the most of the opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Robinson added: \u201cSam is an \u2018old-school\u2019 defender. He reads the game really well and wants to win every ball and every header.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is still quite raw but he has this real passion for the game and natural enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

\u201cKevin<\/a> joining from Wolves<\/a> means we have brought in two players who have spent time at big club academies and are hungry and want to push on and be part of the first team this season.\u201d<\/p>\n

‘Big Sam’<\/h2>\n

There is only one person you think of when you hear ‘Sam Allardyce’ – Big Sam. The former England<\/a> manager was in charge at Crystal Palace<\/a> when his grandson was released by Manchester United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This was a relief for Big Sam, and he accused the top clubs of ruining youth players development. He hoped his grandson would feature for the Shakers, but he failed to make a first-team appearance.<\/p>\n
