The deal ends speculation that the Scotsman would make the move to <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonfootball.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/clubs\/west-brom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">West Bromwich Albion<\/a>, who had Neil in their sights after <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonfootball.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2019\/03\/09\/west-bromwich-albion-sack-darren-moore\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sacking Darren Moore last month<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h1>Preston North End Tie <a href=\"https:\/\/fbref.com\/en\/players\/1e462577\/?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Neil<\/a> to New Deal<\/h1>\n<h2>A Job Well Done<\/h2>\n<p>Neil took over at North End after having his contract at <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonfootball.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/clubs\/norwich-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Norwich City<\/a> terminated in March 2017. After just missing out on the play-offs last season, he has established Preston as a solid mid-table Championship side after their promotion back to the division in 2015 under Simon Grayson.<\/p>\n<p>The side currently sit 12th in the Championship and although it seems too far away now, they have been outside candidates for a late play-off run for much of the season.<\/p>\n<h2>West Brom Speculation<\/h2>\n<p>After West Brom shocked everybody by sacking club legend Darren Moore despite them being fourth in the table, coach James Shan has taken the reins on a caretaker basis.
