The longevity of this injury is yet to be established, but can be estimated to be around six to eight weeks.

Off to a good start

Since joining the club, Jesus has notched three goals in just four Premier League matches. This is phenomenal considering he is just 19 years old. What makes this even more impressive is that he has been able to settle so quickly into English football.

Jesus had originally transferred from Palmeiras after graduating from their youth academy. Since then he has shown maturity and promise in the Premier League.

Impact

Jesus will undoubtedly be frustrated at his injury for two key reasons. Firstly, he has been in a good vein of form. No player likes to be sidelined, but going from scoring goals to watching from the bench can be tough. It takes a strong-minded player to come back from injury and to reassert their form.

This aspect links into the next concern for Jesus, will he be able to break back into the first team? Sergio Aguero has been often benched by manager Pep Guardiola, but Jesus’ injury lends him a chance to prove himself. The classy Argentine striker has bundles of experience and the ability to score goals. He will prove to be world-class competition in Jesus’ return from injury.

In terms of the impact on Manchester City, it should be minimal. The recovery is depending on the severity of the injury. A less severe injury would mean that neither player nor club miss too much. But, even if it is towards the longer estimate, the club have a deep squad. Whilst this means one less in-form player involved in the squad, there are many other hungry players waiting to get involved.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

Gabriel Jesus’ injury is that he has broken his metatarsal during Manchester City win over Bournemouth.
