Sky Bet Championship side Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Huddersfield Town defender Michael Hefele. The German joins Forest on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.<\/p>\n
The 27-year-old joined the Terriers in the summer of 2016, prior to their promotion-winning campaign. He joined from Dynamo Dresden after captaining them to the 3. Bundesliga title and even netted on his Huddersfield debut.<\/p>\n
Hefele was ever-present in the Huddersfield side that was promoted through the play-offs, but unfortunately only appeared twice in the Premier League last season after an injury-hit year. Additionally, he made four starts in cup competitions.<\/p>\n
Hefele had a decent scoring record for a defender. In his 48 games for the West Yorkshire side, he found the net five times. However, he was guilty of missing his penalty in the shoot-out win over Reading, which could have cost the Terriers promotion.<\/p>\n
Upon losing a member of his squad, Huddersfield boss David Wagner said:<\/p>\n
\u201cMichael and I have discussed what\u2019s best for him and the Club throughout pre-season and I believe this transfer is the correct option for everyone.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is a player that I cannot guarantee game time to this coming season and that is why he will now join Nottingham Forest.”<\/p>\n
Huddersfield chairman Dean Hoyle added:<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2019Hef\u2019 isn\u2019t a player we really wanted to lose, but he only has a year remaining on his current contract and understandably he was looking for the security of a longer deal.<\/p>\n
\u201cGiven everything he has contributed in getting this Club to where it is today, letting him pursue this transfer to Nottingham Forest was the right thing to do.<\/p>\n
