{"id":1764,"date":"2016-10-29T18:29:53","date_gmt":"2016-10-29T22:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonfootball.com\/?p=1764"},"modified":"2016-10-29T18:29:53","modified_gmt":"2016-10-29T22:29:53","slug":"stanley-1-newport-county-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2016\/10\/29\/stanley-1-newport-county-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Accrington Stanley 1-3 Newport County AFC: Match Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Accrington Stanley 1-3 Newport County AFC<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Pre-Match<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Accrington Stanley<\/strong> made just one change from the side which drew 0-0 with <strong>Crawley Town<\/strong>, as <strong>Seamus Conneely<\/strong> started in place of <strong>Patrick<\/strong> <strong>Lacey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Newport County<\/strong> made three changes of their own with\u00a0<strong>Joe Day, Jennison Myriie-Williams<\/strong> and <strong>Jazzi Barnum-Bobb<\/strong> coming in for <strong>James<\/strong> <strong>Bittner, Mark Randall<\/strong> and<strong> Reece Grego-Cox<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Match Review<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Newport County certainly shocked their hosts today with a fine performance and secured their first win under new boss <strong>Graham Westley<\/strong>. The Boys in Amber started well and almost took the lead in the first minute when Myrie-Williams found space from 15 yards, but fired the ball\u00a0into the side netting.<\/p>\n<p>Stanley seemed to struggle with Newport&#8217;s approach to the game and allowed the visitors to dominate the possession, but Newport failed to really test <strong>Elliott Parish<\/strong> in the home goal.<\/p>\n<p>Right at the beginning of the second half, Newport&#8217;s <strong>Rhys Healey<\/strong> scored a stunning individual goal.\u00a0Racing from within his own half, the striker held off his marker before firing into the top right-hand corner for his second\u00a0Newport goal.<\/p>\n<p>The Exiles then doubled their lead on the hour mark though Jazzi Barnum-Bobb, when the former Cardiff City youngster struck from within the box after an assist from Healey. The travelling fans were starting to believe they could actually win this game.<\/p>\n<p>Accrington were shocked, but finally found the back of the net though former Newport player\u00a0<strong>Janoi Donacien<\/strong>. The fullback pounced after\u00a0<strong>Gary<\/strong> <strong>Taylor-Fletcher&#8217;s<\/strong> shot was\u00a0saved by <strong>Joe Day<\/strong> to volley home the goal.<\/p>\n<p>But it was Newport who had the final say, with <strong>Josh Sheehan<\/strong> getting a well deserved goal in the fifth minute of injury time to make it a 3-1 away victory for Newport County.
