Newport County<\/strong> have appointed the former Peterborough United<\/strong> man Graham Westley<\/strong> as manager to replace Warren Feeney<\/strong>. The Newport County board was united\u00a0in their decision to appoint Graham, who\u00a0has beaten off over 20 other applicants for the role. He will take control of Newport on Monday October 10th, with coaches Sean McCarthy<\/strong> and James Bittner<\/strong> taking charge of Newport’s game at Colchester<\/strong> this weekend.<\/p>\n Westley spent his career playing in the lower leagues of the English\u00a0system. Starting with Queens Park Rangers<\/strong>, Westley represented England<\/strong> at U18 level. After leaving QPR, he moved\u00a0to Gillingham<\/strong> in March 1986, where he managed just two league appearances. Soon after he entered the non-league system, starting with Conference<\/strong> club Barnet<\/strong> in 1987.<\/p>\n Spells with Wycombe Wanderers<\/strong> and Kingstonian<\/strong> were followed by Wealdstone, Farnborough, Harlow, Enfield, Aylesbury United, Harrow Borough, Totting & Mitcham United, Molesey<\/strong> and Walton & Hersham<\/strong>.<\/p>\n After short spells with Kingstonian and Enfield as player-manager. Westley was named\u00a0manager of Farnborough in 1999. He enjoyed success\u00a0by winning the\u00a0Isthmian League Cup<\/strong> in 2000\u201301. He then\u00a0won promotion to the Conference a year later by winning the\u00a0Isthmian League Premier Division<\/strong>.<\/p>\n After a three year spell with Stevenage<\/strong> (2003-2006) and a short spell at Rushden & Diamonds<\/strong>\u00a0Graham\u00a0returned to Stevenage in 2008 and just two seasons later took the club into the Football League by winning the Conference National<\/strong> Title. Westley then added another promotion just one season later when Stevenage beat Torquay United<\/strong> in the League Two<\/strong> playoff final.<\/p>\n Westley was appointed manager of Preston North-End<\/strong> in January 2012, however just over a year later he\u00a0was sacked. He then returned to Stevenage for a third time near the end of the 2012-13 season.<\/p>\n Westley joined Peterborough United<\/strong> after leaving Stevenage at the end of the 2014-15 season.
