Neymar Given International Lifeline
Brazil are often one of the favourites for any international tournament, and the 2026 World Cup will be no exception. The 55-man provisional World Cup squad submitted by Ancelotti gave a fascinating insight into his frame of mind for the upcoming tournament.
The Brazil boss had previously said he “will only call up players who are physically ready” to compete at the highest level, and naming Neymar was a huge vote of confidence for the 34-year-old that he can still perform at the highest level.

The exclusion of Chelsea’s in-form attacker Estevao would have disappointed many. The confirmation that he will miss the tournament due to a hamstring injury is a big blow for Ancelotti.
Another notable exclusion is that of 41-year-old Thiago Silva, who, despite his age, continues to perform excellently and would have provided plenty of experience for the squad.
Brazil World Cup Squad Confirmed
After what felt like a lifetime, Ancelotti finally made his way to the stage and before announcing the Brazil World Cup squad, said: “It was very difficult to choose my 26-man squad. The level of competition in this country is extremely high.”
