Ruben Neves Potential Next Destination Revealed After Wolverhampton Wanderers

Ruben Neves

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves is likely to head to Barcelona should he decide to leave the Midlands club. This comes as little surprise, given the business completed between the two clubs in the past year, with Adama Traore and Francisco Trincao going in opposite directions.

As per Ornstein, however, Wolves are keen to keep Neves and his midfield partner, Joao Mourinho this summer. If that is the plan, though, then those at the top of the Hierarchy must act quick to tie Moutinho down to a new deal. As things stand, the Portugal international will become a free agent this summer.

Barcelona Interest Not a Surprise

If you’re looking for a midfielder full of consistency with that added touch of class, then look no further than Ruben Neves. The Wolves man has played a crucial part in his side’s push for a European place this season. Such is his importance to Bruno Lage’s side, too, his absence due to injury may just derail the Wolves campaign.

It is an absentee those at Molineux will be hoping to avoid making permanent. Keeping Neves should be seen as one of the priorities this summer.

As for Moutinho – a player perhaps slowly edging past his best at 35 – Lage will be keen to keep his expertise around whilst other midfielders begin to come to the fore. Players of Moutinho’s experience are often priceless, and if Wolves want to reach the next level, they must keep a player of his calibre around.

Of course, anything can happen yet. One thing we know for sure is that it will certainly be an interesting summer for Wolves, who may be in constant contact with Barcelona throughout.
