Mark Warburton Signs New Contract at Queens Park Rangers

Mark Warburton

Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Warburton has signed a new contract until at the club. The deal comes at the perfect time, with Warburton heading into the new Championship season with promotion hopes.

The news makes sense, too, with the manger arguably in a better posting than ever to take QPR to new heights. And he’s being rewarded for that. Ever since arriving in 2019, Warburton has been on a rolling yearly contract. The new deal, will see an end to that, however, and hand him necessary job security.

His assistance, John Eustace, who was recently linked with the Swansea City job, has also received a new deal.

Impressive Pre-Season

A lot of people were left incredibly impressed with QPR’s pre-season, with a stunning 4-2 victory over Manchester United. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, they then went and held Leicester City to a 3-3 draw in a game they originally found themselves winning.

In fact, they didn’t even lose a game in pre-season despite coming up against two Premier League sides. Now, heading into the game against Millwall on the opening day of the season, they’ll be more confident than ever.

If they get off to a dominant start, then who knows what might happen. In somewhat of a throwback, Charlie Austin is back at Loftus Road and, although he is unlikely to make the same impact as his first stint, the striker’s presence alone is a major boost.

Escaping the depths of the Championship is no easy task, but, for the first time in what feels like forever, QPR look a side to keep an eye on. With Mark Warburton signing a new contract, too, those at the club will feel ready to conquer England’s second tier.

What Was Said?

Speaking to the official QPR website, Warburton said: “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to continue the development of the squad and to work with the staff in taking the club forward.

“We have improved each season, we are in good shape but now we have to keep building.

“Going into my third season here there is a very evident expectation which is testament to the players for their strong finish to last year.

“That now sets the bar. We have to push on from there.

“We are in a very privileged position to work in football and we must work hard to justify the faith of the Board and the supporters.”
