Preston North End Announce Arrivals of Liam Lindsay and Sepp van den Berg

Lindsay den Berg

Following the departure of Ben Davies to Premier League champions Liverpool, Preston North End have acted quickly by replacing him with Liam Lindsay and Sepp van den Berg.

The defensive duo arrive on loan from Stoke City and Liverpool respectively and will look to make an instant impact at North End.

Van den Berg, in particular, will hope to use this opportunity to gain first-team football.

Preston Announce Arrivals of Sepp van den Berg and Lindsay

Lindsay: ‘The Gaffer Wanted Me Here’

Speaking to the club’s website after signing, Lindsay said: “It is obviously a big attraction coming here and the gaffer wanted me here, which gives me confidence, so I’m just looking to get as many games as possible and help the team.”

Preston manager Alex Neil added: “It is good to get this bit of business done. The Ben Davies interest came out of the blue so it’s not something we expected, but he have obviously been keeping an eye on left sided centre backs in case that did happen.

“Liam is a guy who has played at the level, he’s been at Stoke, he’s been at Barnsley, he’s a good age, he’s left-sided and left footed and I think it makes sense to bring someone in who can hopefully do well between now and the end of the season.

“He’s a good presence, a good size, and we are really hopeful for him. He hasn’t played a lot of football this year and we want to make sure that he gets his season up and running.”

Sepp van den Berg: ‘I Can Develop Here’

Also speaking to the website after signing, Sepp van den Berg said: “I’m looking forward to it. I’m happy I’m here. I’m happy hopefully I can play a lot of games, I hopefully can achieve something good this season so I’m really looking forward to the season.

“I’ve had a look around and everything looks good. The people that I’ve met have been really nice to me so I’m really looking forward and the facilities are good so hopefully I can develop here very well.”
