Liverpool Transfer Rumours: Interest Shown in David Carmo but Sven Botman Not Considered

Botman transfer

Despite several reports suggesting a move was imminent for the Lille defender, Liverpool are not considering Sven Botman as an option in this month’s transfer window- according to James Pearce of the Athletic.

The central defender has enjoyed an impressive season at Lille, helping guide them to second in Ligue 1, and would provide a solution to several clubs’ defensive frailties across Europe.

As reported by Pearce, however, Liverpool are not among the clubs interested in making a move for Botman in this month’s transfer window.

Perfect Time to Target Ligue 1 Players

With French football in the middle of a financial crisis following the end of a Tv deal with MediaPro, clubs around Europe could take a merciless approach and take advantage.

Many Ligue 1 clubs will be left searching for funds this month, and this could see players moved on for a cut price. This includes second-placed Lille, who have a plethora of stars ready to guide the club to financial safety once more.

Sven Botman- one of the standout players within the current side- could well seize this opportunity to make a move in this month’s transfer window. The 20-year-old certainly looks ready-made for the biggest of stages after performing so well for Lille so far this campaign.

Interest Shown in David Carmo

Despite James Pearce putting an end to the Botman rumours, it doesn’t change the fact the Reds need a central defender. As it stands, Jurgen Klopp has just two out-and-out centre-backs at his disposal: Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams– two inexperienced youngsters.

Fabinho adds to the list of defenders available these days and is very-much the commanding force within the backline, but, Liverpool must find the Brazilian a suitable, and injury-free partner for the rest of the campaign.

Botman may not be the answer, but another central defender must be if Liverpool want to retain their recently re-gained English crown. And, according to the Leciester Mercury, Braga defender David Carmo could be the defender they turn to. Either way, whoever it is, the Reds must secure defensive reinforcements this month.
