Mauricio Pochettino Announced as New Paris Saint-Germain Manager

Pochettino Paris

Following the departure of Thomas Tuchel, Paris Saint-Germain have announced Mauricio Pochettino as his replacement. The former Tottenham Hotspur manager takes the position and, in the process, makes his return to football after a lengthy absence.

The pressure on the Argentine will be on to succeed with the club third in Ligue 1. With the reputation that Pochettino brings with him, however, the chances of succeeding in Paris are higher than ever.

With the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar at his disposal, too, he could take the French club to new heights.

Biggest Job Yet for Pochettino

The first task at hand for Pochettino will be to guide Paris Saint-Germain back to the top of Ligue 1, where they belong. As February comes, however, the pressure will only increase with the return of Champions League football.

Many have tried in the past, and many have failed when attempting to take PSG to European glory. Thomas Tuchel came closer than ever, reaching the final before being dismantled by a ruthless Bayern Munich side, and, ultimately, failed to recover since the loss.

Now, with Pochettino, Paris Saint-Germain will be hoping to go that one step further to lift the famous trophy. First, however, they must get past Barcelona in a highly anticipated Round of 16 clash.

By taking the Paris Saint-Germain job, Pochettino has secured his biggest managerial position yet after working his way up from Espanyol to impressing in the Premier League with Southampton before coming ever so close to securing glory with Tottenham Hotspur.

Having taken an extended break from football, he’ll be more eager than ever to kick on and secure several pieces of silverware in France whilst working with some of the best players in the world of football.
