Diogo Jota Quickly Becoming Undroppable at Liverpool

Jota

When Diogo Jota sealed a move to Liverpool in the summer, many believed a place on the bench was the closest he’d get to Jürgen Klopp’s starting lineup, especially when considering the esteemed reputation of the deadly trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

Yet, a handful of games into the season and the Portuguese international has done the previously thought to be an improbable task of splitting that very aforementioned coveted forward trio to become one of the main men in the Liverpool ranks.

The forward has entered the lineup, whether off the bench or in a starting place for the out of sorts Firmino and flourished ever since, giving the Liverpool attack a much needed new dimension.

Now, with seven goals in 10 appearances, including a hat trick in the Champions League against Atalanta, the new man has become undroppable for the Reds.

Jota Has Become Undroppable for Liverpool

Outshining Roberto Firmino

As previously mentioned, there was once a time when the likes of Firmino was considered one of the first names on the team sheet. That time, however, has passed following one quiet display too many from the Brazilian.

And that soon created a problem for Jürgen Klopp, who would have been left staring at his bench, filled with players such as Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino, wondering just where he could find a consistent number nine.

He needed a solution, and like a gift sent from heaven, Diogo Jota arrived, full of pace, full of goals and full of the fuel needed to lift Liverpool to the top of their Champions League group and top of the Premier League.

Further Improvement to Come

At 23, Jota has years ahead to make further improvements; a scary thought for those tasked with competing against Liverpool, who already hold the title of Premier League champions.

Perhaps even a similar trajectory to that of Sadio Mane is set to take place. The Senegalese forward arrived from Southampton, a team who, at the time were in a similar position to Wolverhampton Wanderers, before making an instant impact and going on to become one of the best players in the world.

Should Jota have a similar rise in red, Liverpool will have themselves yet another forward to bring even more silverware winning moments.’

To be tasked with coming straight into this Liverpool side and perform is a difficult ask for anybody, but to come into the Liverpool front three and look perfectly placed, interchanging as though you have been there for years seems mission impossible.

Yet, here Jota is; here the Liverpool frontline is, interchanging better than ever to bemuse the opposition, and here is Jürgen Klopp’s new look, Jota welcomed and flourishing attacking frontline which has propelled them back to the top of the league.
