Burgess, who made 210 appearances for the club, has signed for Belgian outfit Royal Union Saint-Gilloise after deciding not to renew his contract. He made 43 appearances this season as Pompey suffered defeat in the League One play-off semi-final against Oxford United.
Casey and May have failed to make an appearance for the club this season, having come through the Youth Academy at the club.
Oli Hawkins, signed from Dagenham & Redbridge in 2017, has scored 18 goals from 95 appearances for the League One side.
Pitman, who also joined in 2017 after two seasons with Ipswich Town, netted 42 times from 99 appearances during his time on the south coast.
Contract Talks and Loan Returns
The club are in negotiations with defenders Lee Brown and Brandon Haunstrup, whose deals have now expired.
Ross McCrorie, Cameron McGeehan, Sean Raggett and Steve Seddon have returned to their parent clubs following the end of their loan spells. They return to Rangers, Barnsley, Norwich City and Birmingham City respectively.
2019/20 Season
Portsmouth found themselves fourth in League One when the season was suspended, but finished the campaign in fifth as a result of the points per game system which was used to decide the outcome.
Despite finishing in the playoffs, Kenny Jackett’s men were unable to pass Oxford United. Both legs ended 1-1, with the U’s going through on penalties.
The south coast club have finished on the top eight in each of the three seasons back in League One, but are yet to find a way back into the second tier of English football.
