Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 29 Picks

Manchester City

The two sides that play twice this week have their respective issues. Manchester City have been playing once every three or four days for a while now and that will continue throughout this month. They will travel to Old Trafford for the Manchester derby on the 8th and then host Arsenal on the 11th. Pep Guardiola‘s men will then face Burnley on the 14th and then have that all-important Champions League 2nd leg clash against Real Madrid on the 17th. There is bound to be some rotation. So, picking the right players from Manchester City will be a real challenge.

Kevin De Bruyne is definitely the best pick from the Citizens. He has started the last ten matches in the Premier League. Considering the importance of the two matches this gameweek, he should start both. The Belgian was a substitute against Aston Villa in the League Cup final and might get rested for the FA Cup match as well. One might envisage Guardiola resting him against Burnley in preparation for Real Madrid. Clean sheet chance is low. So, one should not risk picking a defender or goalkeeper. Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling are all worthy options but will they start both matches?

Arsenal

Arsenal, on the other hand, have been eliminated from the Europa League. Mikel Arteta should be able to pick his best available XI for every match from now till the end of the season. On the basis of latest lineups picked by the Spaniard, the following seems to be his preferred lineup-

Bernd Leno, Hector Bellerin, David Luiz, Shkodran Mustafi, Bukayo Saka, Granit Xhaka, Daniel Ceballos, Mesut Özil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Nicolas Pépé.

However, will Arteta pick such an attacking lineup on his return to the Etihad? Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is undoubtedly the best pick from the gunners. He is the main man for Arsenal and should get some joy against West Ham United at home. The Hammers have conceded nine goals in their last three away trips.

Nicolas Pépé has been in decent form as well and he should be considered strongly. His price tag might put off some FPL managers but the Ivorian could be a great differential this week. Bukayo Saka could be a cheap punt as well.

Best of the Single Gamers

There are quite a few juicy fixtures to consider this week. Liverpool are reeling from back to back defeats and will want a big win to bounce back. Bournemouth at home should be a comfortable fixture for the reds. Mohamed Salah was a substitute against Chelsea in the FA Cup so should start this one. He has the potential to go big in this game. Trent Alexander-Arnold was rested completely for the FA Cup so should start this one. He could hurt the cherries.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are in superb form and have won their last four matches in all competitions. They have scored 12 goals in those four matches as well. Diogo Jota is hot right now with six goals in his last three starts. He looks hungry for goals and is playing exceptionally well. The ever-reliable Raúl Jiménez is also there providing solid points. Matt Doherty has also returned double-digit scores in the last two matches. It looks ominous for Brighton and Hove Albion this week at Molineux. Adama Traore suffered a shoulder injury against Tottenham Hotspur though so questions remain on his fitness.

Leicester City have failed to win a match in the Premier League for over a month now. Considering their position in the league table, that seems really astonishing. Jamie Vardy has not scored for a long time and James Maddison has also lost form. Relegation-threatened Aston Villa visit them this week. The Villans will target all three points from this midlands derby. However, a derby might just reignite the foxes and they could also put in a solid performance. Jack Grealish will have to drag Aston Villa forward if they are to do well.
