Chelsea winger Willian has signed a new one-year deal at the club, according to the Evening Standard’s Simon Johnson. The deal comes after months of negotiations with the club, but the Blues are set to confirm the contract despite interest from Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona throughout the summer.

The Brazilian had just one year remaining on his current deal and it has taken the Blues some convincing to get a deal done. They formerly operated on a policy of not granting players over 30-years-old extensions of only one year, but this was ditched when they extended David Luiz‘s contract by two years in May.
It also comes down to Chelsea’s two-window transfer ban. With them not able to sign a replacement for Willian before he could have left next summer, the Blues were willing to give him what he wanted and grant an extension.
In March, Willian said: “I have one year left, but of course I want to play for this club. This club is very special to me. I won titles here, I have the affection from the fans and from the people that work in the club. I feel comfortable to stay. I am happy when I play well and score goals. I can give a different light.”
Chelsea Career So Far
Willian moved to Stamford Bridge from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala in 2013 for £30 million and has had a successful six years at the club so far. He has been part of squads that reaped five major trophies, including two Premier League titles and the Europa League title last season.

Johnson’s report also states that Pedro is keen to discuss a new deal with the club. The Spaniard has one year left on his current deal but will be 33 by the time that expires.
He joined the club from Barcelona in 2015 and has won three major trophies during his time in West London.
