MK Dons have announced their seventh summer signing as Rhys Healey returns to the Stadium MK permanently for an undisclosed fee.
MK Dons Announce Healey Return
Former Cardiff City Striker Crosses the Border
The 24-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at Stadium MK, scoring nine goals in 21 games to help the club win promotion to League One. The Dons have had a busy summer transfer window, bringing in seven as well as losing key man Chuks Aneke. However, after a flurry of signings, the Dons seem to have bolstered their squad well, with Rhys Healey becoming their seventh signing.
Healey’s transfer will be well received by MK Dons’ fans as the striker helped them gain promotion from League Two last season. With this transfer bringing an end to Healey’s six-year stay at Cardiff, a new permanent residency will offer a stable platform to progress from. The striker spent most of the last campaign on loan at Stadium MK, netting nine goals in 21 appearances and on his return spoke highly of his time at MK Dons stating
“I felt like I was playing some of my best football here last season so I’m ready to kick on. Like last season, I want to work hard, score goals and help the team push up the league.”
On the Job Experience
Healey first joined Cardiff back in 2013 from Welsh Premier League side Connah’s Quay. Despite spending six years with Cardiff he spent most many seasons on loan, picking up valuable experience. Healey enjoyed stints at Colchester United, Dundee, Newport County, and Torquay. Healey didn’t quite crack Cardiff but has an impressive scoring record with the clubs he’s visited on loan. He currently has 40 goals to his name from 117 career appearances. Which, at 24 years old, is a good haul that will look to be improved upon.
MK Dons’ new-look squad will have a tough task ahead of them in the increasingly competitive League One. However, after solid recruitment, there is every reason to be optimistic about the upcoming season.
