The 25th of March will be a day Callum Hudson-Odoi will remember for the rest of his life. He made his full England debut in a 5-1 win over Montenegro and he shined like the bright star he is. It is ironic though, that his first start for England came before his first start for Chelsea in the Premier League. Every England fan is now fully aware of the faith that Gareth Southgate is willing to show in youngsters. However, Callum Hudson-Odoi needs to receive more game time at Chelsea otherwise, he needs to leave the London club to further his development.
Hudson-Odoi Must Leave Chelsea Soon To Maximise His Potential
Shining So Far
In his limited game time so far at Chelsea, Hudson-Odoi has shone. He has found his appearances limited to the Europa League and Cup competitions. Despite this, he has registered five goals and two assists for Chelsea this season. An impressive tally for just 533 minutes of football.
His impressive performances have earned him a lot of attention. This is not just from the media but also other clubs. It was only in January that Bayern Munich were linked with the English winger. In the summer, it is likely that more clubs will be interested in the youngster. Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri should be fearful of losing him.
Chance For A New Opportunity
Hudson-Odoi, along with many other English youngsters, will have seen the success of Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson in the Bundesliga. It is something that they may think about taking on themselves.
Sancho has been the major success story to promote a move to the continent. Sancho has eight goals and 12 assists so far this season for Borussia Dortmund. He also has more minutes played than Hudson-Odoi this season. The Chelsea winger may see a move away as a chance to develop. He may see the Bundesliga as the perfect opportunity for him, and both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have expressed interest.
Could A New Opportunity Arise In England?
Similarly, Hudson-Odoi could opt to stay in England to further his development. Manchester United and Liverpool are keen on signing the 18-year-old. A move to another club in England could benefit him and the national team in the long run.
Chelsea may also opt to keep him if Eden Hazard departs. The Belgian has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer. Maurizio Sarri may see Hudson-Odoi as the ideal replacement.
