Latest on Che Adams, Andy King, Will Grigg, and Britt Assombalonga
Chase is on for Che Adams
Birmingham’s in-form striker Che Adams is wanted by two EPL clubs. Southampton and Burnley are believed to be the front-runners in the race for his signature. Championship clubs are also looking at making a late bid. It is understood that both Premier League clubs have already had bids rejected.
Birmingham insist that their forward is not for sale. However, a bid of around £15 million could tempt the Blues to sell. Birmingham are desperate to keep Adams and the striker has not handed in a transfer request yet. The last day of the transfer window could be a difficult one for the Midlands club.
King to Derby?
Leicester City’s Andy King is a target for Derby County. The 30-year-old has featured just once this season and is free to leave on loan. The midfielder is expected to leave on the last day of the window, and Derby appear to be front-runners.
Several other Championship clubs are also interested. Therefore, it could come down to King’s preference. Nottingham Forest, West Brom, and Swansea are also keen to sign the midfielder. King spent time on loan at Swansea last season but could not prevent their relegation.
Grigg Saga Continues
The ‘will he, won’t he’ move looks like continuing to the last minutes of the transfer window. It was reported earlier this week that Wigan had rejected four bids from Sunderland for Will Grigg. A fifth bid believed to be £1.25 million, plus add ons is believed to have also been rejected on Wednesday.
Grigg has been Sunderland’s number one target this transfer window. It is believed that the latest bid exceeds the valuation given to Grigg by his club. Whether the Black Cats return with another bid remains to be seen. Several other strikers are also being looked at, but time is running out.
Villa Chase rivals Striker
Aston Villa are reportedly interested in Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga. Boro’s £15 million striker has failed to impress Tony Pulis. He has started just three games since November. Villa boss Dean Smith is keen to add to his attacking options and has set his sights on the former Nottingham Forest man.
The 26-year-old has dropped down the pecking order at the Riverside and could be allowed to leave. Boro will want to recoup as much as they can. A bid of at least £10 million will be needed by Villa to get their target this month.
