MK Dons have made Jordan Moore-Taylor their first signing of the summer transfer window. Moore-Taylor also becomes the first signing of the Paul Tisdale, arriving from the bosses’ former club, Exeter City. He has signed a two-year deal with the Buckinghamshire club.
Jordan Moore-Taylor Becomes First Summer Signing For MK Dons
Speaking at the launch of the new kit on Monday night, Tisdale said that signings would soon be making their way through the doors at Stadium MK. Speaking to the MK Citizen, he said: “There will be some arriving very shortly. I have to get the balance right – although the club have disappointed in the last season, there are still some very good players here, and anyone I bring in I have to make sure compliments what we already have.”
MK Dons fans will be happy with the speed at which Tisdale has begun to make acquisitions. The club was criticised by supporters last year for their slow start to the transfer window, meaning many of their targets were snapped up by other clubs.
Problem Position
After Joe Walsh’s season-ending injury partway through the last campaign, centre-back became a problem position for the Dons. Scott Wootton is yet to convince fans about his ability even after two years at the club, and captain Dean Lewington, a left-back by trade, was often found filling in at the centre of defence.
The signing of Moore-Taylor is an exciting one given his age. At 24, he fits well into the general Dons demographic of young, highly-rated players. Once Walsh returns from injury, he will most likely partner the former Exeter captain in the middle, with Wootton a back-up. Youngsters Oran Jackson and Finn Tapp will also be ready to come into the side should injuries or poor form play a part.
Views on the Move
Speaking to mkdons.com, Moore-Talor said of the move: “I’m looking forward to a new challenge. I had six good years at Exeter but I felt it was the right time to move away.
“I had a few options but MK Dons was the right choice for me – I know the manager, Matt Oakley and Mel Gwinnett and this is an amazing stadium.
“I know the league and I know how hard it is to get out of. I’m under no illusions how tough this season is going to be but I’m confident we will be fighting at the top end of the table.”
